About EUTOP

The European Coal and Steel Community established in 1951 has, in the space of just a few decades, become the EU of today: a union with 27 member states and one of the most dynamic economic areas in the world. Those seeking to sell their products or services here can do so on an internal market with nearly 500 million consumers and virtually no political or legal barriers. Such favourable circumstances are seldom to be found anywhere else in the world

Within the EU, the role of the Union as opposed to that of member states is growing. Nearly two thirds of all national laws and regulations are based on decisions in Brussels and European law is now de facto the basis, at least indirectly, for all regulations in the field of commercial law. The Treaty of Lisbon and the increase it brings in the competencies and powers of the EU is set to further strengthen the influence of Europe – and diminish that of individual member states.

These developments also signify crucial changes in the prerequisites for successful communication between politics and business: European decision-making structures are becoming increasingly impenetrable for individual companies.

EUTOP offers key support in this complex environment. Our work is tailored to the European decision-making structures and processes in all their commercial, cultural and political diversity. EUTOP has had a strong network of contacts among executive and legislative decision-makers in Brussels and all EU member states for more than 20 years. We can therefore assist our clients effectively and efficiently in presenting their cases both on a European and on a national level. In short, commercial success in a united Europe depends on being present where the key decisions are made, and with a clear understanding of their basis and context – in Brussels and the member states of the EU – with EUTOP since 1990.
